Board of Trustees
The Lindenhurst Memorial Library serves over 42,000 residents residing within the physical boundaries of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District. The Library is governed by a publicly elected, five member Board of Trustees. Annual operating budgets are voted on in April, by the residents of Lindenhurst, and are separate and independent of both the school district and village budgets. Homeowners can find their library tax amount as a separate line on their Town of Babylon tax bills.

The Lindenhurst Memorial Library is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees, elected by the Lindenhurst School District residents. Each trustee serves a five year term. The library is funded by the Lindenhurst School District taxpayers. Board of Trustee Bylaws.

Residents of the Lindenhurst Union Free School District who are registered with the Suffolk County Board of Elections can vote at the Library. Voter registration forms can be obtained through the Board of Elections, the post office, or at the Library. For voter eligibility requirements, please contact the Suffolk County Board of Elections. The Library will hold a Voter Registration Day on Monday, March 30 from 3:00 pm–8:00 pm in the Library’s lobby area. Absentee ballot applications are available at the reference desk. Applications must be received by the Library Director at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Upon approval of the application, an absentee ballot will be issued. All absentee ballots must be received at the Library by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the election in order to be counted. Persons designated by the Suffolk County Board of Elections as “permanently disabled” pursuant to provisions of the election law will automatically receive an absentee ballot and need not apply.
There will be a Budget and Trustee Information Meeting on Monday, March 30 at 7:00 pm. The proposed budget stays within the NYS tax cap limit this year of 1.81%. Annual debt service payments were approved under a separate vote held on October 16, 2019.
**All Board of Trustee Nomination Petitions MUST BE returned to the library by March 6, 2020.**
