We're going to keep the celebrations going here at the library and enter this week with Children's Book Week!
Established in 1919, Children's Book Week is the longest running national literacy initiative in the country. The Children's Book Council is in charge of this wonderful celebration and promotes various activities, libraries, schools, and bookstores around the country. On their website you can find printable bookmarks, drawing activities from favorite illustrators, and a challenge that goes along with this years theme: Read Books. Spark Change.
Books and stories have the power to positively inspire change within the reader and their whole community. We'll have programs for all ages this week that include some amazing stories and books, as well as, some drop-in activities in the Children's Room. We'll also be celebrating Star Wars Day on Thursday, May 4th where the force will be strong within our books. Stop by all week to get inspired and have some fun!
