A discussion of the book "Rumrunning in Suffolk County: Tales from Liquor Island", by Southold Town Historian Amy Kasuga Folk.  Nicknames "Liquor Island", Long Island was a center of bootlegging & rumrunning for the New York metropolitan area during Prohibition.  With its proximity to major markets & costal communities for easy transit.  Suffolk County was awash in illegal hooch.  Violence from criminal outfits disrupted previously quiet towns as locals too often were swept up in dangerous engagements with bootleggers.  This book recounts these fascinating stories from Suffolk County's Prohibition era.
