Florida High Bush Eggplant
  • Solanum melongena 

  • Growing Instructions 

    • Start seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost  

    • Sow seeds into flats and transplant to cells after first true leaves emerge  

    • Harden off plants a week before transplanting  

    • Rows should be 18-24" apart and seeds planted at a depth of ¼"  

    • Full sunlight is best  

    • Ready to harvest approximately 75-85 days from transplant   

  • Seed Saving 

    • Leave on the vine until fruit Is overripe, inedible, and off colored 

    • Slice open the eggplant and separate the flesh from the seeds  

    • Place seeds in a bowl of water to wash away excess pulp  

    • Lay out seeds to dry completely, for two to four weeks  

    • Seeds should be stored in a cool place, out of the sun, keep an eye for moisture build up
