As a painter, Sica finds inspiration in observing the phenomenon of light- whether the fall of natural or artificial light on still life objects, or on the face and form of the human figure. Working with oil paint allows him to record, the best he can, the subtle shifts of color and tone in the light and shadows he sees before him. While contemplating a subject, whether animate or inanimate, he endeavors to remain humble before what he is observing in an attempt to express something of the subjects' truth, and perhaps, soul. For Sica, there's great joy and solace in the process of surrendering to Nature's endless variety while attempting to express, through the creative act of painting and drawing, something of our shared humanity.
