Betty Lynn Tims currently works as an art, yoga and language instructor. She has been making art for over a decade, and studied at the Long Island Drawing Studio under the late and unforgettable Jeffrey K. Fisher. Before working as an educator, she worked as a makeup artist; exploring color, light and shadow on the canvas of the face.
Betty Lynn has shown her work in group, solo and duo exhibitions in local library, gallery and retail venues. She provides private and group lessons out of her home art studio, with many hardworking and gifted artists. Her mediums include photography, embroidery, crochet, acrylic, alcohol ink, watercolor, ink, pencil, marker, collage, digital and mixed media.
Her recent work largely revolves around seasonal themes with focused attention given to specific motifs. Betty Lynn began stitching and sewing as a child, but it wasn’t until after her studies in fine art that she took up the fabric arts seriously. She took the time during the pandemic to explore embroidery, thread painting, appliqué, machine sewing and incorporating other 3D objects such as buttons and ribbon. Her works demonstrate a thorough understanding of the elements of composition, color theory, rhythm and balance; and range from whimsical and child-like freehand stitching to detailed realistic studies of butterflies. She is married to a musician and lives a life of learning and study that is made brighter and fuller by the antics of her beloved Shepherd mix rescue, Juniper Belle (Juni)
