In 2022, the American Library Association tracked the highest number of attempted book bans since ALA began compiling data about censorship in libraries more than 20 years ago. 2,571 unique titles were challenged last year, up from 1,858 in 2021. The Lindenhurst Memorial Library stands by the ALA's Library Bill of Rights, the Freedom to Read, and the Freedom to View.
Come to the Library this month to see our display, share why reading matters to you, check out some banned books, and more! We will also be holding a Banned Books Q+A on Monday, October 2nd at 7pm. Register here.
