As a lover of Dungeons and Dragons, nothing beats the classic D&D of the 1980s. Pictured here is Frank Cerillo with his friends Matt Nelson and Mark Nelson in 1983 at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library. After being regular players of D&D at the library, the boys were offered the opportunity to display their D&D material in our display case. If you look closely, you can see some of the original Dungeon Master guides and an incredible map!
For those new to the game, Dungeons and Dragons is a role-playing game set in a medieval fantasy world in which players are taken on an adventure by a storyteller, or Dungeon Master. The DM leads the group through adventures where the players actions, and rolls of the dice, can affect how the story unfolds. Since there is (usually) no physical game board, the Dungeon Master and the players can be as creative about choosing characters and settings as they want!
40 years later, Dungeons and Dragons is still being played at Lindenhurst Library today. If you are a teen and are interested in having your fate decided by the roll of a die, join our epic adventure here!
